New Apple Pie Toast Crunch and Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch, an Honest Review

Any new cereal that crosses my desk piques my interest (and here at Sporked, boxes of cereal frequently get thrown across your desk). I love seeing what’s happening in the universe of cereal, but I ask you: Are any of these newfangled cereals, many of which are updated versions of existing cereals, better than tried-and-true breakfast classics? Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty great as is, but I had to give Apple Pie Toast Crunch and Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch a shot.

Turns out I was actually pleasantly surprised by one of these new boxes of cereal. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a simple concept, but one that begs to be tinkered with. Marshmallows certainly aren’t going to work. However, there are a slew of flavors that cinnamon and sugar complement. Let’s see if these two new versions of CTC live up to their predecessor.

Apple Pie Toast Crunch

Ya dude, this tastes like a lot of good things. I said this reminds me of, like, a crunchy, apple cinnamon oatmeal; my colleague Jordan Myrick decided it’s like a cross between Apple Jacks and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Regardless, it’s damn delicious. The apple flavor is just such a no-brainer with the cinnamon and sugar flavor of said Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I really, really enjoyed it. The apple adds some lovely extra flavor. Cinnamon and apple are a powerfully comforting combination, and this cereal rocked me to sleep and told me everything is going to be ok.

Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch

Jordan loved this cereal, but I wasn’t crazy impressed. This tastes sugary, sure, but they actually used less cinnamon flavor than regular cinnamon toast crunch. I ask you, can it be Cinnamon Toast Crunch—or even a version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch—without cinnamon??? It does kind of taste like a crumbled-up cookie, but not a great one. Jordan was a huge fan, though, and as much as it pains me, I have to listen to my constituents sometimes.
