The Oreo Coke Flavored Slurpee Is…Incredible

Back in August, Oreo and Coca-Cola’s new “bestie” status was announced to the world through a press release. You might have seen my news story about it. The press release in question dedicated paragraphs and paragraphs to the Oreo-flavored Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coke-flavored Oreos hitting shelves as we speak—but they dedicated only a single sentence to a secret third collaborative product with a third brand

At the very end of the press release, they snuck in the following reveal: “A frozen variation of Coca‑Cola® OREO™ Zero Sugar will also be available at participating 7-Eleven locations in select markets.” You read that right, folks: They made Oreo-flavored-Coca-Cola-Zero-Sugar-flavored Slurpees. And I tasted one.

New Slurpee Flavor!

Fizzy Cookie Flavored Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Slurpee

Pros: It shouldn’t be news to anyone that frozen Coca-Cola products hit different no matter the format (Icee, Slurpee, Burger King, etc.), but I was shocked that this unilateral excellence extended as far as “Zero Sugar Oreo Flavored.” As I said in my review of the non-Slurpee Oreo-flavored Coke, this is smooth, creamy, and has exactly as much chocolate as I’d like to taste in a Coca-Cola. I can’t fully articulate why this is better than the soda it’s based on, but it absolutely is preferable. I’m torn on whether I’ll buy more of the soda, but I’ll grab one of these Slurpees every time I see them until they sell out. Maybe I should have lied in this review to scare people away from this precious limited-time resource…

Cons: Again, much like the soda, I have to ask: why is this zero sugar? Judging by my hairline and stubborn refusal to try new social media platforms, I’m a grown adult. I can make informed decisions about the things I put into my body; I don’t need corporations telling me I can’t have cookie-flavored soda-flavored slushies full of sugar. Last I checked, this country has a history of going to war with people who want to meddle with our drinks. Coca-Cola and 7-Eleven should ask the British how that went down last time.
