Halloween candy rules. Gummy Halloween candy. Chocolate Halloween candy. Even bad Halloween candy is good—like, you think you hate Smarties until you’ve spent an evening schlepping around the neighborhood and knocking on doors for a few rolls of them. Then they taste great. Anyway, it seems unfathomable that you’d want to consume anything besides candy this month, but there’s more to Halloween snacks than candy. We rounded up some spooky bevs (Mtn Dew VooDEW!), some salty Halloween snacks, trick-or-treat treats that aren’t sweet, and some perf Halloween party snacks for those times when another miniature 100 Grand might send you over the edge.

Every year, Mtn Dew releases a mystery flavor called Mtn Dew VooDEW because Mtn Dew truly understands what sells 20 ounce bottles of soda. This year, they announced in advance the flavor was inspired by a classic Halloween candy. We know what it is now, but I won’t spoil it here in case you want to solve the mystery for yourself.

Mtn Dew’s mystery soda is clear; Fanta’s is black. And, yes, it turns your tongue black when you drink it. As for the flavor, many people seem to think it’s some sort of berry (although, there are some really wild guesses on Instagram, from mango to green apple).

The Good Crisp Co.’s potato crisps are really good (they’re among our favorite plain potato chips, in fact) and these have a spooky twist. Yep, they’re black. If you’re looking for Halloween party snacks, pair these with French Onion dip with some plastic spiders in it or something.

People really flip for Cheetos’ sweet seasonal offering. They’re little bones that are cinnamon sugar flavored and even though we found in a taste test they have a little bit of a weird fake buttery flavor, who can resist assembling a little skeleton out of this snack? Not us.

Go rogue and hand out salty Halloween snacks. Last year, I handed out little bags of Zombie Takis to trick-or-treaters and they were a real hit. These veggie chips aren’t spicy like Takis, but they’re still savory and fun.
