Mtn Dew Baja Blast Is Officially a Permanent in-Store Flavor…Or Is It?

There have been some rumblings in the Mtn Dew community that Mtn Dew Baja Blast is not, in fact, going to be a permanent addition to their flavor line-up. Apparently, some of you FBI agents found a leaked document from the Mtn Dew HQ implying the Baja Blast would only be available through 2024. Understandably, this would sow the seeds of doubt among even Mtn Dew’s most loyal followers.

However, a recent Instagram post from Team Supernova hopes to put these rumors to rest. Featuring a grainy photo of the document in question (it’s like an episode of CSI: Mtn Dew, and I’m so here for it), he points out that the document actually refers to the 20th Bajaversary being one year long. According to him, Baja Blast, the soda, is here to stay. Forever. In stores.

At this point, we want so badly to agree. We’re eleven days into 2024 and our Sporked fridge is already stocked with Baja Blast. Waiting in line at Taco Bell for a ridiculously large cup of tropical lime goodness may be a time-honored tradition among many, but we’re ready to move on. (Nothing against you, Taco Bell, but frankly, I’m lazy.)
But… well, in our professional opinions, the language is still unclear. Different outlets are reporting different things. Consider this a desperate cry for help aimed at the Mtn Dew PR team. Can you guys please say once and for all what the deal is? Are we getting Mtn Dew Baja Blast for the rest of 2024, or the rest of time? The people deserve to know!

Exactly what flavor of Mtn Dew Baja Blast is back? Because there sure are a lot

The simple answer: Mtn Dew Baja Blast and Mtn Dew Baja Blast Zero Sugar are officially back on the shelves. That’s the classic Baja Blast flavor, Tropical Lime.

I’ve said it before (mainly in tweets), and I’ll say it again: Mtn Dew’s overactive flavor scientists are some of the best in the biz. I don’t know what the higher ups are paying these people, but I hope it’s exorbitant—they certainly put in the work. After its release in 2004, the original lime Baja Blast became so popular, those flavor scientists got even more creative. They expanded Baja Blast into new varieties (basically, sub-flavors of a flavor), like citrus punch-flavored Sangrita Blast, Mango Gem, and pineapple-flavored Caribbean Splash. These, to our knowledge, are not gracing grocery store shelves anytime soon.

What about Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast?

Sadly, it doesn’t seem the alcoholic version will be available throughout the entirety of 2024. Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast (with zero sugar, because that’s how hard Mtn Dew rolls) had its first limited release in the summer of last year. Another limited release might be in the cards (maybe those FBI agents could investigate?), but for the time being, we’ll be patiently waiting for more news.

Where can I buy Mtn Dew Baja Blast now that it’s here?

Mtn Dew Baja Blast is available in most major supermarkets nationwide! We recommend checking out their store locator if you want to find the nearest one. And of course, as always, Baja Blast will still be sitting nice and bubbly in your nearest Taco Bell soda fountain… forever, probably.
