Let me start by saying this is not branded content—we just honestly like Great Value brand products. Say what you will about Walmart, but judging by taste and cost alone, their store-brand foods are just plain good.
Many of Walmart’s Great Value foods have appeared on our rankings. If I listed all the Great Value foods we’ve ever included, this would be an impossibly long list. And I respect your time too much—you have things to do, like go grocery shopping at Walmart. So, this is a list of all the Great Value products that have appeared within the top three—the ones that really rose above the rest. The ones we go to Walmart specifically to buy.
Without further ado (because, I know, you are very, very busy) here are the best Great Value foods to buy at Walmart. Seriously, this is not an ad.
- Great Value Spicy Brown Mustard
-
At just over a dollar, this versatile condiment (which took the top spot in our spicy brown mustard taste test) is a must-purchase Walmart item. “It is so perfectly spicy while maintaining a great classic mustard flavor,” wrote Sporked senior staff writer Jordan Myrick in their review. It’s great on a sandwich, great on a hot dog, great on your fingers.

- Great Value Butter Flavor Jumbo Biscuits
-
Great Value isn’t afraid of a little indulgence. So, trust the label when it says “butter flavor.” These big biscuits are buttery without being greasy and they are so good they need no spreads or toppings. In fact, they were the only biscuits on our best biscuits list that Sporked contributor Danny Palumbo said he would eat plain.

- Great Value Savory Steak Sauce
-
This mouth-watering steak sauce came out ahead of every other steak sauce we tasted. “The flavors here are in line with most store-bought steak sauce, with notes like tomato puree, vinegar, spices, raisin puree, and orange puree, but it’s just so damn savory it took our number one spot,” Danny wrote in his review. Don’t stop with steak. Use this umami-filled sauce as a dip for fries or chicken nuggets, or pour it onto baked potatoes.

- Great Value Orange Juice with Pulp
-
Here’s another steal. You can get nearly half of a gallon of high-quality orange juice for just over three dollars. Not to be confused with their original OJ, which did not score high points in our orange juice taste test, Walmart’s pulpy OJ is just so good. “It falls on the sweeter end of the spectrum but has some nice orange zest notes and almost a tinge of grapefruit on the finish,” Sporked editor-in-chief Justine Sterling wrote in her review.

- Great Value Salsa Con Queso Cheese Dip
-
This cheesy dip is thick and creamy with chunks of pepper for an added kick. It’s classic party queso. “I would happily serve this at a party to guests I like and respect,” Jordan wrote in their review. “I would also pour this over a burrito and eat it with a knife and fork.” They even recommended mixing it with noodles for instant mac n’ cheese. It’s so much more than a dip and it’s so cheap!

- Great Value Bite Size Tortilla Chips
-
For under two dollars you can have one of the top three best tortilla chips we tasted. “They are perfectly salted bites of crunchy goodness,” Jordan wrote in their review, praising the brand for not being afraid to season their dang chips. We also liked the circular shape, which is easier to fit into jars of dip—like Great Value Salsa Con Queso!

- Great Value Dijon Mustard
-
We ranked this mustard second, just under the fancy Maille Dijon mustard. “While nothing can quite live up to Maille, Great Value comes surprisingly close,” Jordan wrote in their review. “It’s sharp and vinegary and smooth.” It’s also much, much cheaper than Maille.

- Great Value Lemon & Ginger Herbal Tea
-
Perfect hot or iced, this tea walks the balance between nasal-clearing ginger spice and mild twinge. “This is a tea that is gingery enough for a ginger lover and mild enough for people who can’t handle a ton of spice,” Jordan wrote in their review. Keep a box in the pantry for the next time your tummy is acting up or you feel a cold coming on.

- Great Value Seasoned Black Beans
-
Here’s another well-seasoned Walmart product. “These beans come seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and cumin, so they’re ready to eat,” Danny wrote in his review. All you need to do is warm them up in a microwave and you have your side dish sorted for the evening.
