Mountain Dew knows how to deliver with exciting red, white, and blue summer flavors! Last year it was bomb pop-inspired flavor Summer Freeze, in 2017 and 2021 they gave us Dew-S-A (a mix of Code Red, White Out, and Voltage), and then there was Liberty Brew (“50 flavors in 1 Dew”) in 2019 and 2020.
This year, Pepsi has graced us with not one, not two, but three patriotic flavors of Mtn Dew for us to enjoy. Enter: Liberty Chill (formerly Liberty Brew aka 50 Flavors in 1 Dew), Freedom Fusion (lemonade and peach), and Star Spangled Splash (“redberry,” though sources say the flavor profile is raspberry and strawberry). I’m absolutely ecstatic to see how these flavors are so let’s just jump into it!
- Mtn Dew Liberty Chill (formerly Liberty Brew)
-
Pros: Name aside, this is definitely Liberty Brew as fans will remember it from 2019 and 2020. There’s a very pleasant mixed berry flavor that almost reminds me of Krabby Patty gummies. It’s definitely reminiscent of last year’s Summer Freeze, but with a more candy-like flavor. I know a lot of people were worried that Mtn Dew would modify the formula, but this is definitely the Liberty Brew you know and love. It’s just Chill, now.
Cons: There are not 50 flavors in this new Mtn Dew. You cannot convince me otherwise. (I have gone on record with this hot take before and I’m sticking to it.) Even if I saw a list with 50 flavors on it, there is no chance that it is true. Is it the end of the world? No. But don’t tell me it’s 50 flavors in one Dew when I get one or two! Additionally, I’ll admit I am not a fan of the name change.

Pros: First and foremost, because I know people are going to be saying this: No, this does not taste like discontinued Mountain Dew White Out. (Yes, this is a pro for me.) I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like this. I am not a fan of peach-flavored things. And, in smell and taste, Freedom Fusion is overwhelmingly peach—but I really enjoy it. It is very refreshing. The lemonade takes the backseat. You mostly get a shockingly natural tasting peach flavor—it’s definitely much more natural than KFC-exclusive Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning. It is not too sweet but packs the perfect punch of flavor. Also the artwork on this can is INSANELY cool.
Cons: The lemonade flavor is almost undetectable. It doesn’t really hit until the aftertaste, and even that is largely dominated by the peach flavor. This is particularly interesting as the lemonade is listed first in the flavor description. One would expect lemonade to be the primary flavor, but it’s very much not the case.

- Mtn Dew Star Spangled Splash
-
Pro: I melted into my seat when I took the first sip of this new Mtn Dew flavor. This is very potentially my new favorite flavor of Mountain Dew from the last decade (not counting returning flavors such as Pitch Black or Citrus Cherry Game Fuel). Nothing makes me happier than a good strawberry flavor of Dew, and Star Spangled Splash is unapologetically and unabashedly strawberry forward. The strawberry flavor almost reminds me of a strawberry jam or strawberry candy. The raspberry is very subtle and comes in after to complement the flavors of the strawberry absolutely perfectly. This is a match made in heaven and I don’t think it could have been done better.
Cons: No notes. This is an incredible new Mountain Dew flavor. If you aren’t a fan of strawberry, then this simply isn’t for you. I’d break the ten spork rating scale if I was allowed to.
