15 Best Reese’s Products

There’s so many types of Reese’s products. I really didn’t know what I was getting into when I decided to take on a ranking of all the different types of Reese’s. I thought I’d be comparing a few mini Reese’s to a Big Cup Reese’s and some seasonal shapes. But then I started compiling our list. And it got longer and longer. Eventually, I had to cut it off. We didn’t try any of the Reese’s baking kits or protein powders or bars for this taste test. We kept it to the candies and candy-adjacent snacks.

And that still meant tasting 35 different Reese’s Peanut Butter products.

Now, as a lifelong Reese’s devotee, that might seem like it would be a dream for me. While, yes, I did enjoy a lot of it. It eventually became the candy equivalent of making someone smoke a whole pack of cigarettes in one sitting. I can’t say I craved Reese’s for a while after this Reese’s products taste test. But I’m happy to report I’m back to loving the brand, once again. And, actually, through this taste test I found a few new favorite Reese’s flavors to add to my repertoire.

Here’s the best Reese’s candy to buy. I know a lot of you are going to be angry about the Reese’s products that we included and the ones we excluded. (Boy oh boy, do people have strong feelings about the Reese’s Peanut Butter Bar!) But, remember, we tasted 35 Reese’s Peanut Butter products head-to-head. So, you just gotta trust us. Okay, without further ado, let’s talk about the top 15 different types of Reese’s every Reese’s lover must try.

Reese’s Sticks

Best Cookie

Reese’s Sticks

I don’t think these are likely to be anyone’s favorite Reese’s, but I do think you should try them if you’re a Reese’s fan looking for something a little different, or if you’re a big fan of layered wafer cookies like Quadratini or Ruger. The sticks are made up of thin wafer cookies layered with peanut butter cream and covered in chocolate. The wafers are crispy, the peanut butter is creamy, and the chocolate coating is sweet, sweet, sweet. I wish the peanut butter filling imparted a bit more saltiness to contrast with the chocolate, but I really enjoy how light and airy the wafer cookies are. Most Reese’s Peanut Butter products are dense. This one is anything but. It’s not the best Reese’s candy but it’s a fun change of pace.

Reese’s Popcorn

Best Snack

Reese’s Popcorn

I never expected this candy-coated Reese’s Popcorn to be more than passable, but it’s really good and hard to put down. The popcorn is fresh and crunchy with a slight saltiness. It’s drizzled with melted Reese’s, essentially, which allows the popcorn to shine through. But you still get that chocolate-peanut butter Reese’s flavor. This is the best Reese’s candy to buy for a road trip.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Plant Based

Best Vegan

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Plant Based

Can’t or won’t do dairy? You don’t have to give up on Reese’s. These plant-based Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups don’t taste exactly like the classic cups, but they still taste good. The peanut butter filling and oat milk-based chocolate come together to taste a bit like cookie dough, actually. Yes, it tastes like a candy you’d get at a health food store—but it’s a good candy you’d get at a health food store.

Reese’s Miniature Cups

Best Salty-Sweet

Reese’s Miniature Cups

I know, I know. Minis this low on the list? Don’t worry, you’ll find another Reese’s Minis flavor higher up. The classic Reese’s Miniature flavor is still undeniably good—particularly if you really like the saltiness of the peanut butter filling, which really shines through in this iteration. I have my own style of eating these treats (I’m sure you do, too). I bite off the top layer of chocolate before eating the base in a couple of bites. These will always be the best Reese’s candy to offer in a bowl at a reception desk.

Reese’s Big Cup

Best for PB Lovers

Reese’s Big Cup

Do you seriously love Reese’s Peanut Butter? Do you love the texture—how it’s not creamy but a little bit crumbly? Then Reese’s Big Cups are the Reese’s products for you. You get a ton of that peanut butter filling. If you don’t love it, then you won’t like these. But if you yearn for more in a regular Reese’s, then your prayers have been answered.

Reese’s Skeletons

Best Halloween Mini

Reese’s Skeletons

The debate over the best Reese’s candy for Halloween is heated. The Pumpkins have their ardent fans. I’m sure someone loves the Reese’s Ghosts. We’ll go to bat for Reese’s Bats (more on those in a second) as well as the underappreciated Reese’s Skeletons, which are the way to go if you’re not looking for a big commitment. They’re also the better Halloween Reese’s to get if you don’t love a ton of Reese’s peanut butter filling. They’re small and have a nearly even ratio of chocolate to peanut butter. My colleague Jordan Myrick isn’t a huge Reese’s fan, but even they love Reese’s Skeletons.

Reese’s Bats

Best Halloween Shape

Reese’s Bats

This is the best Reese’s candy for Halloween. (We actually ranked it as the best Halloween candy, period.) Not only do these actually look like bats (which is more than you can say for the pumpkins or the ghosts) and they have the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter—more peanut butter than chocolate. Giving these out won’t earn you a standing ovation like handing out full-size bars will, but you’ll come close.

Reese’s Pieces

Best for the Movies

Reese’s Pieces

As a true fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter products, I am not the biggest proponent of Reese’s Pieces. There’s no chocolate. And that, to me, makes them incomplete. However, I understand their appeal and my fellow Sporked taste testers really love them. I appreciate the crunch and the sweetness. I just wish there was chocolate. But if you’re looking for the best Reese’s candy to enjoy in a dark movie theater, Reese’s Pieces is the way to go. You can pop them in your mouth without worrying about getting chocolate everywhere (because, again, there is no chocolate). And they go great with popcorn

Reese’s Thins White Chocolate

Best White Chocolate

Reese’s Thins White Chocolate

As the years go on, I find myself more and more open to white chocolate treats. I think they’re getting better. Coming out of this taste test, I’ve actually found myself reaching for some of the white chocolate Reese’s products more than the milk chocolate ones. And the best of those white chocolate Reese’s is the Reese’s Thins White Chocolate. You actually get the cocoa butter flavor of the white chocolate, and it pairs really well with the salty peanut butter. It’s a delicate treat, a real grown-up Reese’s. If you’re a white chocolate devotee (or just white chocolate curious, like me), you gotta give it a try.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bar

Best Bar (Runner-Up)

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bar

This is not the best Reese’s candy bar (that’s in the number one spot). But it’s still really good. It reminds me of a Wonka Bar. It has the same heft and dimensions of the bars you see in the movie. It’s made with thick chocolate and each square is filled with creamy Reese’s peanut butter. It’s a basic product. But I think it’s a great pick for a Reese’s purist who appreciates the minimalism of the original Reese’s cup—but wants the experience of a candy bar. It’s a great bar to keep in the fridge and dip into for the occasional square.

Reese’s Pretzels Big Cup

Best Big Cup (Runner-Up)

Reese’s Pretzels Big Cup

As our top five entries in this ranking of the best types of Reese’s prove, Reese’s and pretzels are great together. (Reese’s dipped pretzels, which are not good, are the only exception.) These Reese’s Big Cups are studded with crunchy pretzel bits, which help break up the potential monotony of so much Reese’s peanut butter filling. They add textural intrigue and saltiness. It’s not quite the best Big Cup (check #2 for that one), but it’s close.

Reese’s Pretzels Miniatures

Best Minis

Reese’s Pretzels Miniatures

What’s better than a giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with pretzels? Mini ones! The mini format lets the pretzel pieces shine through, highlighting how the crunchy, saltiness complements the sweet chocolate and peanut butter. These are the best Reese’s Miniatures and they are now a staple in my pantry.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Best Everyday

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (Classic)

Look, the standard Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is a classic for a reason. The balance of chocolate and peanut butter is perfect. The two-to-a-package serving is just right. And the cups are fun to eat. I won’t bore you with my method (like I did when discussing the minis) but let’s just say there’s no way I’m just taking a simple bite. And is there anything better than a chilled Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup from the fridge? If you’re reading this, you’ve almost certainly had classic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. But if you haven’t had one in a while, let this be your excuse.

Reese’s Big Cup Caramel

Best Big Cup

Reese’s Big Cup Caramel

Every time I taste a Reese’s Big Cup Caramel I experience a wave of renewed awe. It’s just so good. There’s a thin layer of gooey caramel that complements the salty peanut butter and the chocolate—and it isn’t messy. We tried the new Lava Big Cups multiple times and they were a gooey mess. That takes away the enjoyment for me. The amount of caramel in here is perfect—just enough to give you some goo, but not enough to spill out. This is one harmonious Reese’s product.

Reese’s Take Five

Best of the Best

Reese’s Take 5

What’s a Reese’s Take 5? Imagine our top Reese’s flavors smooshed into one absolutely perfect candy bar. (One of the best candy bars, if you ask us.) A melange of chocolate, peanut butter, peanuts, caramel, and pretzels, it’s crunchy, caramelly, peanut buttery, chocolaty—everything you want out of a sweet treat. After eating the many Reese’s products in this taste test, the Take 5 was the only one I was interested in finishing. It’s so good, it can overcome a Reese’s hangover.
