We Tried New Toasty Holiday Peanut M&M’s (and You Should Too)

Peanut M&M’s have fallen from grace. While they used to be the strong second fiddle to regular M&M’s, these classic, lumpy candies lag behind newer flavors like Pretzel and Peanut Butter. (Next year, we’ll even see a flavor variant of Peanut Butter M&M’s.) But Peanut M&M’s are coming back! We got our hands on the brand new Toasty Holiday Peanut M&M’s—the 2024 M&M’s holiday innovation—and they’ve got big shoes to fill.

Per the official description, Toasty Holiday Peanut M&M’s feature caramel-roasted peanuts infused with cinnamon, vanilla, and spiced sugar. That’s a whole lot of good stuff, but does it live up to the promise of its lengthy list of flavors? Read on to find out.

New M&M’s Flavor!

Toasty Holiday Peanut M&M’s

Pros: Y’all, these are very good. I have never been a big Peanut M&M’s fan, but these are a real improvement on the original format. I can’t pretend I can taste all the finer notes mentioned in their official list of flavors, but these are very convincing “Cinnamon Peanut” M&M’s. A perfect pick for the holidays, no doubt about it. I hope we see these become a regular annual release, because THP M&M’s could easily become a tradition in my house.

Cons: I’m no flavor scientist, but some combination of the cinnamon, vanilla, spiced sugar, and caramel made these taste like…maple? That isn’t a bad thing, just not what I was expecting from a release with so many other official flavor notes. If anything, it makes me want to see a full-force Maple Peanut M&M. Finally, a candy for Canadian Independence Day.

Where can you buy these new M&M’s?

Toasty Holiday Peanut M&M’s are available anywhere M&M’s are sold – aka, everywhere. So far, I’ve personally seen these at CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart, and a Pilot gas station in the middle of nowhere. These are sold in a couple different sizes, from single-person packet to family-sized sack. My recommendation? Pick up the biggest container you can find, dump them into a glass dish, and become the grandma you want to see in the world.
