Jones S’mores Soda Exists So of Course We Tasted It

If you live in a place like, say, California, where we no longer have traditional seasons like summer and fall but instead have fire season and extreme fire season, then you probably don’t get to enjoy a lot of campfires. That means you also don’t get to enjoy a lot of s’mores. Well, Jones Soda is here to help. Nope, they haven’t solved climate change, but they have created a new, special release S’mores Soda to help satiate your gooey marshmallow cravings without breaking out the matches.

As of this writing, the new soda flavor has proven incredibly popular—it is sold out on Jones’ website. But you can still find bottles in specialty soda stores and it very well may become available on the site again—many of their special releases do come back. But should you seek it out? I gave this new Jones Soda flavor a try to find out.

Jones S’mores Soda

New Jones Soda!

Jones S’mores Soda

Pros: Like Jones’ Chocolate Orange Soda (the best Jones Soda flavor), this new Jones Soda flavor tastes like a Tootsie Pop. The Chocolate Orange tastes like an Orange Tootsie Pop. The S’mores tastes like a Chocolate Tootsie Pop. And fizzy, Chocolate Tootsie Pop is pretty good. It’s cream soda adjacent, with that Tootsie Pop “chocolate” flavor. S’mores this ain’t. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t somebody’s cup of tea soda.

Cons: The website promises “campfire in a bottle” and I don’t get any toasted marshmallow flavor. Nor can I taste any actual chocolate or graham cracker. S’mores is a difficult flavor to capture. (We’ve tried a bunch of s’mores flavored snacks and very few get it right.) And, while I commend Jones for trying, they just didn’t manage to bottle that very specific campfire treat. The aroma is also a bit off-putting. It smells like scratch-and-sniff vanilla, which I suspect is supposed to be marshmallow.

If you’re a Jones completist or a big cream soda fan, I think you should grab a few bottles. But otherwise, feel free to wait for the next wild flavor to come out of the Jones factory.
