Buc-ee’s may be a gas station, but it’s one of very few with a dedicated fanbase. The Texas-based truck stop has become a destination, luring hordes of road-weary travelers with brisket sandwiches, the “world’s cleanest restrooms,” and an obscene number of souvenirs featuring a ball cap-wearing beaver. Naturally, when Sporked’s Jordan Myrick stopped into a Buc-ee’s on a road trip through Texas, they had their eye on one thing: Bucee’s snacks.
I’ll be honest: I tried to go to Buc-ee’s once and had to turn around and leave because there was a line up the road to get into the parking lot. It was a Buc-ee’s in Florida, and I think it was relatively new at the time, but I wasn’t prepared to spend a portion of my precious time on planet Earth waiting to get into a gas station. Luckily, I get to live vicariously through my buddy Jordan—and so do you. Whether you’re a certified Buc-ee’s fangirl or you’ve simply been wondering what the fuss is all about, here are six Buc-ee’s snacks to drool over.
- Buc-ee’s Sorta Spicy Cajun Boil Flavored Potato Chips
-
My go-to road trip snack has always been hot fries (preferably Andy Capp’s, though I’ll settle for Chester’s), which is pret-ty dumb when you think about it. You eat something spicy, what do you do? You take a sip of water. When you drink a lot of water, what do you have to do? Pee constantly. Moronic, truly. Anyway, these “sorta spicy” Cajun chips seem like a good solution for people who need a little heat to stay awake on the road, but don’t want to pull over to pee every 30 minutes.
- Buc-ee’s Bohemian Garlic Beef Jerky
-
I do not know what sets “Bohemian” garlic apart from other types of garlic, but this beef jerky sure sounds exotic, and that’s enough for me. The bag also says that this jerky is made of “solid strips of beef,” which I like—death to soft jerky! Jordan says Buc-ee’s has “a jerky section you wouldn’t believe,” but I do believe I’ll be putting away some of this garlic jerky asap.
- Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets
-
Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets are an iconic Buc-ee’s snack. When we asked our Facebook and X followers to tell us about their favorite underrated snacks, Beaver Nuggets got a shout out. They look a lot like Kellogg’s Corn Pops but bigger. Same idea though: You get puffs of cornmeal in a sugary coating. What’s not to love?
- Buc-ee’s Ranch’n Crackers
-
This is the Buc-ee’s snack I would grab, for sure. They’re like toasty little oyster crackers that are absolutely COATED in ranch seasoning. They look so good! I want to eat them by the fistful, but also put them in soup or chowder. The bag is a good size for sharing, too. Other people in the car are going to want to try these—I’m sure of it.
- Buc-ee’s Praline Pecans
-
Before there was Buc-ee’s, there was a Stuckey’s, a chain of roadside stores that was huge in the South in the mid 20th century. Their whole thing was pecan-based sweets (they were famous for their Pecan Log Rolls), so, to me, this is one of the Buc-ee’s snacks with big Stuckey’s energy.
- Buc-ee’s Original BBQ Sauce
-
Unless you live nearby, a Buc-ee’s pulled pork sandwich doesn’t make a very good souvenir. But this BBQ sauce does! The bottle describes it as a “premium blend of savory spices with just the right amount of heat.” I trust Texans when it comes to BBQ, so this sauce is a no-brainer.
