We Tried Sweet Hawaiian Club Crackers, and You’re Gonna Want to Join the Club

Club Crackers are what you wish saltines tasted like. They’re like if Ritz crackers had a love child with a buttery, flaky, laminated pastry. When I was a kid at after-school daycare, we actually looked forward to Club Crackers being the snack of the day. Now I am an adult, and I can have Club Crackers anytime I want. And I have options! Little did I know (until now), there are several varieties of Club Crackers, including their line of “Crisps,” which come in flavors like Mike’s Hot Honey, Ranch, and Sour Cream & Onion.

Now, two new flavors have joined the proverbial club—and they aren’t Crisps. Nope. These are new Club Crackers that are fully the flaky, buttery Club Crackers you know and love. The two new varieties are Sweet Hawaiian Club Crackers and Limited Edition Cinnamon Sugar Mini Club Crackers. Spoiler alert: These things had me crying at the club…because they are fantastic.

Limited Edition Cinnamon Sugar Mini Club Crackers

Pros: These crackers are truly mini, like the little graham crackers you get on some Southwest flights. In other words, they are adorable. They don’t smell like much when you open up the bag, but the mixture of savory cracker flavor, real cinnamon, and crunchy sugar crystals make these taste like French toast on a Sunday morning or like a saltier, butterier cinnamon graham cracker. Believe us when we say these things may be mini but they got that BPCE (Big Pie Crust Energy). These are delicious.

Cons: I’m not entirely sure what occasion these are for. They are not sweet enough for dessert and not salty enough for a savory snack, so if you like your snacks one or the other, these may not be your gig. They are, however, perfect for you sweet-and-salty fiends so if that’s you try ‘em out!

Sweet Hawaiian Club Crackers

Pros: “Sweet Hawaiian” can mean a lot of things. It could mean these crackers taste like Hawaiian Rolls, that they’re punched up with the flavor of pineapple juice, or simply that they were handed to you by a kind Hawaiian person. I didn’t know what to expect and I am still not positive I know what’s going on here, but rest assured that these new Club Crackers are GOOD. I found myself wanting to eat a whole sleeve of them. They taste sweet and almost caramelly—if you told me these were salted caramel-flavored butter crackers, I would believe you. Other folks on the Sporked team thought they tasted kind of like buttered Waffle House waffles. As per Club Cracker tradition, they are also super flaky and delicious. Yum.

Cons: I do presume these were intended to taste like Hawaiian Rolls, but that’s not really what they taste like. And hey, I guess this counts as a con: These are addictive. You will start with one cracker and go through the better part of a sleeve before realizing just how much buttery, Club crackery goodness you have consumed. You have been warned.
