We have been blessed with so many new M&M’s flavors over the past couple of years: Pumpkin Pie M&M’s (pretty good), Honey Graham M&M’s (pretty bad), Toasty Vanilla M&M’s (right down the middle), Easter Sundae M&M’s (shockingly pretty good). But the newest M&M’s flavor is one of the more exciting new flavors to come along, because it’s sandwich-flavored. And that’s really fun.
Yep, we got an early taste of the new Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s.
When we first reported on these new M&M’s, Sporked writer Griffin Parker speculated on how M&M’s was going to get the jelly into the candy. He had a few theories, and one proved to be correct: the peanut butter is flavored. I’ll let you know how I feel about that fact in the full review, which I’ll get into right…about…now.

These flavored Peanut Butter M&M’s are the size of standard Peanut Butter M&M’s (not the Mega ones). They come in dark brown, and ochre, and red—the colors of a PB&J, I guess. And they’re not for sale quite yet. You can expect to see them on shelves in December 2024.
Pros: The peanut butter in the candies is extremely soft and smooth. It really highlights the crunch of the shell. You immediately get the fruity tang of the jam flavor and the salty sweetness of the peanut butter filling. And both flavors mesh well with the thin chocolate coating. It definitely doesn’t taste like an actual PB&J sandwich. But it’s candy. It shouldn’t taste like a sandwich. It does taste like a jam (generic berry flavored jam) and peanut butter and chocolate confection. Best of all, it’s not too crazy sweet (like some new M&M’s flavors have been). While I don’t think these new M&M’s are going to be anyone’s number one favorite M&M’s, I do think this is an exciting new flavor that’s worth trying.
Cons: I really wish they would have included a layer of jam instead of flavoring the peanut butter filling. I think the experience of eating these new M&M’s would have been better (and, obviously, more authentic) if you were hit with sweet-tart jam and then peanut butter, rather than getting it all at once. But I’m not a candy engineer. I have no clue how difficult that might be. That doesn’t stop me from wishing it were so, though.
