For the first time in ten years, Uncrustables has done the unthinkable. Well, it’s unthinkable, but not THE unthinkable—don’t worry, they didn’t add crust. They have introduced a new Uncrustables flavor and, boy, were we stoked. The flavor in question? Raspberry. Okay, we know what you’re thinking—Raspberry Uncrustables aren’t totally new. In 2012, Smucker’s released Raspberry Uncrustables, but those were short-lived and they were made with whole wheat bread. These new Raspberry Uncrustables are made with soft, squishy white bread, so they are technically new.
Point is: You can now get Raspberry Uncrustables at the grocery store. This is not a drill. And because this is not a drill, we followed company-mandated protocol and proceeded to the designated meeting spot (aka the grocery store) to take a head count (aka buy some Raspberry Uncrustables) and eat some Raspberry Uncrustables (this part is not a metaphor). Spoiler alert: They’re great.

Pros: Raspberry Uncrustables smell like heaven, eat like a pillow, and taste like a dream come true. Is this maybe a bit over the top for a description of what is, in fact, a crustless PB&J? Yes. Do I stand by it? Absolutely. I don’t know if it is because I forgot how good Uncrustables are or if raspberry jam just hits different with its signature complex flavor and tang, but I truly have no notes here. This is a crustless, white bread, PB&J sandwich where the “J” is a seedless raspberry jam. It is essentially a Victoria Sponge hand pie with added peanut butter. It is the platonic ideal of a PB&J—come at me, concord grape lovers.
Cons: If you love crust and hate raspberry jam you may not like this, but if that’s you, I would encourage you to ask yourself why you are even reading a review of this particular item. Don’t hate-read grocery reviews!
Fun Fact: I dissected one of these Uncrustables sandwiches for this taste test (don’t worry, I also ate one like a normal person) and learned that the jam is encased in PB which is then encased in bread. YOU GUYS, THE PB OIL KEEPS THE JAM FROM MAKING THE BREAD SOGGY. THEY THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. All that is to say, these people are geniuses and I think they should be designing spaceships.
