WEEOO WEEOO…hold on to your hats, your horses, and your pants because we have some breaking news for you. Buldak, maker of the extremely fire carbonara-flavored spicy ramen, just dropped a whole new carbonara Buldak flavor delivery system. The delivery system in question? Carbonara-flavored Buldak dumplings. I’d say “This is not a drill,” but you already know that since I so eloquently started this very journalistic article with “WEEOO WEEOO.” I hope you know I would never “weeoo weeoo” you guys if it wasn’t serious. But these Buldak dumplings aren’t the only thing that’s new, no siree bob—we are also getting Buldak Hot Chicken flavored hot sauce packets. And if the urgency of the “weeoo weeoo” wasn’t implied, both items are currently available nationwide at select Asian grocery stores.
Tell me more about these dumplings. What are they filled with (besides my dreams)? How many hot sauce packets come in a single pack of packets?
According to food Instagram account @foodbeast, these dumplings will be filled with a delectable mix of “vermicelli, cabbage, tofu, spring onion, and Buldak Carbonara Hot Chicken Flavor sauce.” To be entirely honest with you, they had me at “dumplings,” but all those fillings sound fantastic to me—you get cabbage for crunch, vermicelli for chew, and tofu for a little pop for protein. As for the carbonara hot sauce, if you’ve never had any of Buldak’s carbonara products before (ramen bowl, ramen packet, Topokki, bottled hot sauce) it basically tastes like very spicy, very umami ramen meets the powder from Kraft Mac & Cheese. It’s spicy, it’s cheesy, and we love it so much.
The hot sauce packets will reportedly taste like Buldak’s flagship spicy chicken flavored ramen, and you can get a pack of 50 individual hot sauce packets at Asian grocery stores around the country literally as we speak. Samyang (the company that makes Buldak ramen) has made hot sauces before—they currently sell bottles of this spicy chicken sauce and the carbonara sauce, but this is the first time you can get them in portable, purse-able packets. Needless to say, we are stoked about this development and can’t wait to give these new products a try.
Now this leaves one last question: Could you eat the two products together?
Yes, much like the Little Engine That Could, we think we can. Nay, we think we must. Pain receptors be damned—let the spicy dump fest begin!
