Everything We Know About New Cheese Pizza Cheetos

When it comes to artificial cheesy goodness, few snacks can compete with Cheetos. I mean, how many cheese-flavored, finger-staining snacks are iconic enough to have their own wedding chapel in Vegas? (Okay, it was a pop-up, but still.) One of the reasons Cheetos are so iconic? They’re always innovating and coming out with new Cheetos flavors to try, from street corn to tangy chili. They aren’t all winners—we couldn’t really get behind the street corn flavor—but that doesn’t keep us from getting excited when a new Cheetos flavor is announced, even if it isn’t totally new. Okay, now we’re just being vague. Cheese Pizza Cheetos Puffs are coming soon, and if you’re saying, “Hey, that sounds familiar,” you aren’t totally off base.

So what do we know about these new Cheese Pizza Cheetos?

Well, not much yet. They’ll come in an orange-and-yellow bag featuring Chester Cheetah in a chef’s getup, clutching a Cheeto in one hand (paw?) and a slice of pizza in the other. If this is giving you deja vu, you’re onto something. Back in 2001, Cheetos launched a similar flavor, Cheezy Pizza Cheetos Puffs. The spelling is different, and we kind of hope the taste is, too. According to Mashed, Cheezy Pizza Cheetos garnered some bad reviews, including one that said the pizza flavor was reminiscent of the filling in pizza-flavored Combos and that it overpowered the flavor of the Cheetos themselves. In 2006, Cheezy Pizza Cheetos Puffs vanished from shelves, and while other pizza-flavored Cheetos have been introduced internationally in the ensuing years, the brand never quite committed to their revival in the U.S. That is, until now.

After 18 years (2006 was 18 years ago?!), Cheezy Pizza Cheetos Puffs are being revived as Cheesy Pizza Cheetos Puffs. And while we don’t know when the snack will arrive on store shelves, insiders say Frito-Lay will officially unveil the flavor at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show happening October 5-7, 2024. While we don’t know if they’ll be a dupe for the previous incarnation, the prospect of a new(ish) Cheetos flavor is always appetizing. We can only hope that this time around, these new Cheetos are here to stay—and that they taste so good we want them to stick around.
