What to Buy at Costco in October

OOOoooh, boy! I don’t know what’s been going on at Costco HQ these past few months, but they’ve been on top of their game with the new Costco products they’re putting out. We’re eating good—literally!  The blessings get passed onto you, because I get to yap about another full list of ten exciting things that I saw around Costco for the first time and think you should check out! Here’s what to buy at Costco this month.

King’s Hawaiian Sweet Pretzel Bites

Forget everything I said about the Pretzilla pretzel bites I included in our roundup of what to buy at Costco last month! There is a new shining star in town, and it’s the King’s Hawaiian sweet pretzel bites. They’re an unmatched combo of sweet bread and a salty finish that make you never want to stop eating. I would know—I bought two tubs of them a few days ago and polished off one tub so quickly that I bought two more today. I wasn’t going to mess around in case they didn’t have them on my next Costco run. Each tub comes with over 50 bites and costs about as much as a pretzel and a drink at the mall, so you’ve got to snag this deal before they’re gone.

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

Many are shifting into soup mode as the seasons change. I myself am shifting into Pillsbury Crescent Rolls mode. The holidays are coming up quickly and Pillsbury crescent rolls are, in my opinion, the supreme bread option for all your holiday meals. If you have limited counter and oven space (don’t we all?), the worst thing you can do to yourself is add the hassle of making bread from scratch when you’re already juggling eight other dishes. This pack of crescent rolls from Costco comes with five cans so you have one for each holiday meal and a few leftover for movie-night pigs in a blanket.

Spam Gochujang

The first thing that I saw when I walked into my local Costco was a full-on Spam display. I’m talking pallets of each of their products and a table full of Spam shirts. I didn’t realize it, but October must be Spam appreciation month or something. Naturally, as a person who hails from the Midwest, the very home of Spam, I’m ready to celebrate accordingly! Including grabbing the newest Spam flavor, Gochujang. I’m not totally sure how well a Midwestern company will execute a Korean classic, but we really liked their Korean BBQ version, so I’m open minded about this new Costco product (it’s a Costco exclusive, in fact).

Milton’s Cauliflower Crust Pizza with Roasted Vegetables

Things I do know: October is National Pizza Month, so we need to add at least one frozen pizza to our list of what to buy at Costco in October. I’ve recommended a lot of pizza from Costco, so I really think the only thing left is Milton’s Roasted Vegetable cauliflower crust pizza, which happens to be one of the Sporked team’s favorite cauliflower crust pizzas. National Pizza Month knows no exclusions so welcome to the team, cauliflower!

Rao’s Eggplant Parmesan

I’m truly fascinated by this find. You’re probably well aware that Sporked is a big fan of Rao’s products. And we’ve tried nine of their frozen meals, but we didn’t try their eggplant parmesan. And I’ve never noticed it at Costco before, even though it’s been around for almost a year, according to this article. I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone, but adding this to my list of what to buy at Costco this month should make things right.

Elavi Chocolate Fudge Cashew Butter

It’s always nice to see a “superfood” in the aisle at Costco, and I admire Elavi for getting their cutesy cashew butter into a big box store. They market this as a “dessert” cashew butter, but I think it’d be ideal for topping a piece of toast, mixing into a bowl of oatmeal, or yes, eating by the spoonful right before you go to bed.

Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Coffee Cake

I am a coffee cake snob. To be perfect in my eyes, a coffee cake needs to be moist and filled to the brim with cinnamon. And let me tell you, Costco’s coffee cake does just that! It took me a number of days to get through a Costco-sized loaf of coffee cake, yet it stayed moist to the very end. I’m a true Kirkland Signature coffee cake believer, and this is one of the new Costco products I can’t recommend enough!

Junior’s Apple Crumble Cheesecake

I will concede that while Costco’s coffee cake is both new and delicious, there are more timely desserts in stock at Costco, including this delicious-looking apple crumble cheesecake in the refrigerated section. It has layers of cracker crumb crust, apple pie filling, cheesecake, and a cinnamon streusel on top. That’s serious competition for the coffee cake! Someone out there should buy one of each and report back on which one is THE best Costco product to buy this month.

Ruprecht Citrus Ginger Chicken

Right next to the apple crumble cheesecake was another new offering for October: Ruprecht’s citrus ginger chicken. I’m a big fan of these heat-and-serve dinner packs from Costco. They’re accessible for all shoppers from the solo eaters to big ole families. Thanks for thinking of us single people, Costco! My favorite thing about this new Costco proudct is that it uses chicken thighs instead of the standard chicken breasts—that means more fat and more delicious chicken flavor to accompany the citrus ginger sauce they add to the dish.

Gatorade Water

For being an electrolyte-focused company, Gatorade is wayyyyy too late to the electrolyte water game. But I’ll give them a fair shot at things because I was thoroughly amused when I was walking through Costco and noticed this on the shelf. My favorite thing about it? That they felt the need to specify that it’s unflavored. I guess when you’re known for the opposite, you need to warn your customers that there won’t be any flavor awaiting them when they buy a giant Costco-sized pack of Gatorade water!
