What to Buy at Costco in July

You survived the 4th of July holiday (here’s hoping!), so now it’s time to polish off the rest of that industrial-size tub of potato salad and head to Costco to shop for your average, everyday at-home breakfasts, work lunches, and weeknight dinners. Sure, you probably still have some summer parties in your future (in fact, we have a list for that), but today we’re taking a peek at what to buy at Costco this month as you simply try to make it through the summer, one heat wave at a time. From bite-size desserts to Korean eats in the frozen aisle, here’s a roundup of what to buy at Costco in July based on a recent visit to our local store.

Magic Spoon Fruity

I love seeing the Sporked crew’s favorite products at Costco, and even though Magic Spoon cereal has its peculiarities by virtue of being high protein, low carb, and sugar free, this flavor was a fave. If you like Froot Loops but don’t like ingesting a boatload of sugar in the morning, this is a good option—and now you can find it at Costco. (Before you rush to the store, scroll down to watch Gwynedd & Ariana taste every flavor of Magic Spoon cereal.)

Hanwoomul Fried Tofu & Vegetable Kimbap

Costco is here to fight for a share of the kimbap market—and I think they’re poised to beat out the competition. First thing’s first: Kimbap is a Korean dish that consists of rice, veggies, and sometimes a protein (tofu, in this case), all rolled up in sheets of seaweed. Trader Joe’s also has kimbap in its frozen section, but you only get two rolls in that package—and some stores have a sign that limits buyers to two packages. At Costco? You’re looking at six big ol’ rolls (cut into slices) in each bag and no purchase limit. More kimbap, fewer trips to the store—this seems like a no-brainer if you’re looking for what to buy at Costco this month.

Girl Scout’s Coconut Caramel Bites

We gave these a shoutout when we spotted them at Big Lots—but now I’ve found an even bigger bag, so let’s go ahead and celebrate them one more time. If you’re in the throes of Girl Scout Cookie withdrawal, we get it. And these are a good thing to have around to tide you over until next February rolls around. They’re basically Samoas in pellet form—you get a cookie center inside a chocolate-caramel coating. Delish. And since everything is bigger (and better) at Costco, this bag of cookie bites is no exception. Even if you still have a stash of Girl Scout Cookies in the freezer, these are great for casual grazing—you don’t even have to commit to a whole cookie!

Posh Pantry Coconut Pineapple Petite Cakes

As a flavor combo, coconut and pineapple have strong tropical vibes that are perfect for summer. If piña coladas on the beach aren’t in your future, add these little cakes to your list of what to buy at Costco in July. They’re like cupcakes but cuter and instead of frosting, they’re topped with streusel. Frosted grocery store cupcakes can lean VERY sweet—these are a fun alternative if you’re a Costco shopper.

Liquid IV Firecracker

It’s summer, baby! That means lots of day drinking by the pool, beers by the fire, and cocktails during movie night. And that also means we need something to take care of the hangover that’s looming over us. Luckily, Costco has a freaking 30-pack of Liquid IV in the ever-so-festive Firecracker flavor (aka, cherry, lemon lime, and raspberry). That’s a packet for (almost) every day of the month if you’re going hard!

Junior’s Little Fellas Oreo Cheesecakes

I’m like a bloodhound who has been trained to sniff out one thing in particular: Oreos. If an Oreo-adjacent product is at the store, I’ll find it. I found these individually sized cheesecakes near the Costco deli and it was love at first sight. All the signs of a good Oreo product are there: the cheesecake has a darker hue from being loaded with Oreo crumbs, there’s an Oreo crust on the bottom, and an entire Oreo on top. I know these are on my list of what to buy at Costco while I still can.
