The leaves are changing, and so are Trader Joe’s seasonal specials. Cinnamon, squash, apple, caramel, and so many other titans of taste all line Trader Joe’s shelves during the glorious months of autumn. Between returning favorites and new additions, a walk through Trader Joe’s will present you with every autumnal option you could ever dream of, and quite a few you couldn’t. Here are 5 returning and new Trader Joe’s fall foods that just dropped. Grab them before they’re gone with the leaves.
- Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese
-
This is a combination of all of our favorite things: Pasta. Cheese. Fall flavors. The relief of knowing that we don’t have to dismember and prepare a whole butternut squash. We don’t use “perfection” lightly, but c’mon. This starts with the ideal noodle—a mezzi rigatoni that’s short enough to be bite sized, but wide enough to hold onto a generous mouthful of sauce. Then comes the nutty, savory bechamel, and then that gets hit with the fall spices and subtle sweetness of butternut squash. Shut the front door.
- Pumpkin O’s Cereal
-
As great as fall is, it also means we’re entering the season of shorter days and longer nights. But waking up when it’s still dark out is so much better when breakfast is a heaping bowl of fall flavor. This pumpkin cereal is sweet enough to be satisfying without the sugar crash. But don’t relegate it to breakfast time. Eat some lunchtime and dinnertime bowls because, let’s face it, cereal is an anytime food.
- White Stilton Cheese with Apple and Pear
-
You may associate Stilton with blue cheese, but Stilton comes in two varieties. The blue type is known for its assertive scent and characteristic mold, but the white variety is much milder, and made even more palatable with the addition of sweet fruit. The cheese itself is light with a slight tang, and perfect for crumbling over a salad.
- Savory Squash Pastry Bites
-
Twelve morsels. Four cheeses. Two squashes. One Google search to ensure that “squashes” is the correct plural because it just doesn’t sound right. This is a new Trader Joe’s product consisting of pastry crusts full of pumpkin and butternut filling and a four cheese blend topped with herbs. It’s marketed as a sharable app, but we think Trader Joe’s is either overestimating how much we love our dinner guests or underestimating how much we love squash.
- Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix
-
Two things are pretty much slam dunks: cookies and pumpkin spice. So, a combination of the two is a total touchdown. Homerun. Touchrun homedown. This is the perfect balance between the taste of fresh-baked cookies and the ease of store-bought, and comes at an opportune time when turning on the oven doesn’t fill us with dread of overheating our whole homes.
