Fun Fall Foods We Spotted at Costco

It’s still summer here in Southern California, but fall foods are already starting to make their way onto grocery store shelves. It’s called “seasonal creep,” and, frankly, it rules. But while Target is already a crisp autumnal wonderland (I found a lot of fall foods when I recently visited), I had to search a little harder for fall flavors when I stopped at Costco. But they’re there! So while we wait for the pumpkin streusel muffins and Halloween-themed Twinkies that are surely on their way as we speak, here are seven warmly spiced, (almost) seasonally appropriate snacks you can pick up at Costco on your next visit.

Cheerios Oat Crunch Cinnamon

Forget all of the pumpkin spice cereals; this one’s for the real fall heads. The people who want nothing more than to eat a bowl of cereal out on the porch with a light blanket wrapped around them while they contemplate the which film is better: Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown. No hustle and bustle, just the rustle of fall leaves and the gentle crunch of this cereal, which is spiced with cinnamon and comes with yummy, filling clusters of granola. When it comes to fall foods, these give Apple Cinnamon Cheerios a run for their money.

Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Chip Bisconie Bites

What’s that? You want a dessert that you can enjoy out on the porch to maximize your time in the rocking chair before snow begins to fall? Well, do I have good freaking news for you! The Costco bakery is always stocked with seasonal treats, and fall is no exception. They haven’t quite gotten their pumpkin pie production in order yet (I suppose Labor Day is a good benchmark for that). They do, however, have these cinnamon chip bisconie bites that would be a perfect pairing for a warm cup of apple cider while you rock away!

Premier Protein Pumpkin Spice Shakes

The grind to get swole doesn’t stop just because your social calendar is filling up with pumpkin carving and haunted hayrides. Keep up with the never-ending need for more protein when you’re on a strict regimen with a case of Premier Protein’s pumpkin spice shakes from Costco. Because why shouldn’t protein shakes come in pumpkin spice flavor?! This is fall and nothing makes sense anymore! No food is safe from pumpkin spice.

Nature’s Path Pumpkin Seed + Flax Granola

We’ve all done it. We’ve all saved the pumpkin seeds from our annual jack-o-lantern carving and set them aside because we feel wasteful throwing them out. How many of you actually turn them into something you want to eat? No need to worry about all that when you can just toss that glob of gunk into the compost and grab a bag of pumpkin seed and flax granola from Costco instead. It’s undoubtedly way better than anything you’ll be able to put together while you worry about sewing your kid’s costume this year.

Entenmann’s Little Bites Pumpkin Muffins

Speaking of kids, you can throw a bag of these pumpkin mini muffins into their lunchbox and they’ll go absolutely feral. They’re used to plain and boring chocolate chip muffins or fudge brownies. But pumpkin? That only comes around once a year! Buy a big ol’ box of 20 bags from Costco and spoil them with variety while you can!

Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Apple Raisin Bread with Nuts

Costco really said, “Screw the pumpkin spice…how many other fall flavors can we fit into one loaf of bread?” And by god, did they do it justice. There’s a lot going on with this loaf but the last thing you can do is argue that it’s not on theme for fall festivities. This would be a great morning swap when you’re not quite up to time on the porch with your bowl of cinnamon Cheerios. Or a side of bread with a hearty bowl of soul-warming soup. Or just when you want to really impress your friends with the oddities that Costco can create when left to their own devices!

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest Festbier

Oktoberfest comes around like clockwork, so I think it’s a fine celebration to serve as the beer-lover’s introduction to fall. Ideally, we need a drink to fit the theme well to welcome in fall on the right foot. And of course, Costco’s got our back yet again. This time with their 24 pack of Sierra Nevada’s limited edition Oktoberfest Festbier that’ll do the job well. Grab a case, get a fire going in the backyard, and take in that crisp air (you know, once it actually gets crisp).
