5 New Trader Joe’s Foods to Buy This July

July 4th gets a lot of culinary love, but what about the rest of the month? Have no fear, because all of July is exciting and delicious thanks to a few new Trader Joe’s products. If you’ve eaten through your cookout leftovers, that pasta salad has turned, and you’re looking for a summer dish, snack, or dessert, then look no further than TJ’s. Here are five new Trader Joe’s products to look out for this month.

Smoked Ghost Pepper Cheddar Cheese

Ghost peppers are famously spicy but hear us out: You’re already sweating, why not lean into it? In a world of cheese lovers, there’s a group of masochists that seek a dairy-based burn. Trader Joe’s new Smoked Ghost Pepper Cheddar Cheese answers this call. This dairy for daredevils will add some flair to your classy charcuterie or a pop to your nostalgic grilled cheese. Maybe there’s something a little twisted about adding some serious spice to a classically kid-friendly meal, but we already warned our little cousins to keep their grubby hands off of our food so it’s time they learned about the real world.

Peach Raspberry Crisp

High on the list of the best things about summer are stone fruits and berries. High on the list of best things about life is a warm crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Combining all of that? It’s not even on the list. It transcends the list. It’s so high on the list that it didn’t fit on the page and we had to go up into space to find where it would have been on the list and when NASA said, “wtf are you doing, you can’t be here,” we simply explained our intentions and they understood. Then we all shared TJ’s new peach raspberry crisp (it’s in the baked goods section) and lived happily ever after.

Green Tea and Yuzu Spread

Yuzu is gaining popularity in the States, but it’s still not quite ubiquitous and that’s a darn shame. The aromatic citrus fruit’s flavor can be described as a mix of grapefruit and mandarin orange. In culinary terms, it’s equal parts “yummy” and “nummy.” The refreshing flavor plays well with green tea, and TJ’s took that one step further and infused it with lemongrass, ginger, orange peel, lemon, and apple juice. You might say all these together make a great…TEAm. Fear not if our pun has left a bad taste in your mouth because you can just wash it away by slathering this spread on toast for a sweet snack, or adding it to a marinade for an amped-up meal.

Peanut Butter Pillows

These new Trader Joe’s candies are so delicious that we’re only a little disappointed that TJ’s wasn’t selling actual pillows full of peanut butter. At the heart of the treats are flaky layers of all of the sweet and salty goodness that we know and love from peanut butter, surrounded by a crunchy candy coating. It’s kind of like the inside of a Butterfinger, but without those pesky melty chocolate fingerprints that have gotten us found out in so many crime scenes.

Ginger Shrimp Lo Mein

Given TJ’s solid track record with American-Chinese food (Mandarin orange chicken, anyone?), we’re pretty excited about this new Trader Joe’s frozen food. This familiar but flavorful comfort staple lets us indulge in the winning combination of noodles, veggies, and shrimp brought together in a ginger-shiitake sauce. It’s all skillet-ready so you don’t even need to turn on the oven. A must when it comes to summer dinners.
