3 Best Frozen Blueberry Waffles That Actually Taste Like Blueberry

Let’s just get this out of the way: The best frozen blueberry waffles are not classic Eggo blueberry waffles. They’re fine, don’t get me wrong, but they don’t live up to some of the other frozen blueberry waffles we tasted for this ranking.

It’s not easy to qualify as the very best blueberry waffles. Because we were not only looking for really good waffles—fluffy and chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside, the perfect amount of sweet—but we also demanded real blueberry flavor. It’s not enough to just be a good frozen waffle with a few blue stains indicating the presence of blueberries. To be the best frozen blueberry waffles, there needs to be an undeniable blueberry presence. Bonus points if there are actual berries that you can really sink your teeth into.

I toasted up nine different frozen blueberry waffles in our office toaster oven, including major players like Kashi blueberry waffles and Kodiak blueberry waffles (both regular and thick and fluffy), but only three stood out. These are the frozen blueberry waffles I highly recommend you run out and try, ASAP. (And if you’re looking for the best frozen waffles without any flavors or a ranking of all the Eggo waffle flavors, we can help you out there, too.)

Best Mini

365 Mini Blueberry Waffles

These are so cute. You get four round, mini blueberry waffles connected together into a square, so even though they are mini, it’s still a standard serving size. You can break the little waffles off and eat them separately and pretend you are a giant or you can eat them all connected like a weirdo (this is how my small child chose to eat them). The mini waffles from 365 taste better than the full-sized waffles from 365—they’re sweeter and have more blueberry flavor. That said, these could use some actual blueberry pieces in the mix.

Eggo Thick and Fluffy Blueberry Waffles

Why get the regular Eggo blueberry waffles when you can get Eggo Thick and Fluffy blueberry waffles? They’re just so much better. They’re thick and, well, fluffy. But they also have little bits of blueberry strewn throughout. And those bits are sweet and concentrated with berry flavor. A word of warning: You must eat this waffle before it goes soggy.

Best of the Best

Trader Joe’s Blueberry Waffles

Trader Joe’s blueberry waffles are very light and crispy with a hint of a buttermilk flavor in the batter. But what really earned them the honor of best frozen blueberry waffles is the quality of the blueberries. They taste real! They give the waffles a nice sweetness in little pops and bursts. Drizzled with maple syrup, these frozen blueberry waffles are a delight. You won’t mistake them for homemade, but you will appreciate them in your freezer when you want a lovely, fruity breakfast, fast.
