There’s something special about Christmas desserts. They’re warming and comforting. They help balance out a big Christmas meal. They’re perfect when you just want to curl up under a blanket and put on Elf for the 20th year in a row. The thing I dread most about them, though, is the prep time they often demand. Spending an afternoon baking a pie from scratch or making enough cookies to feed an army? No thanks. That’s where easy Christmas desserts come in. Here are five of the best Christmas desserts that are simple to make but still deliver plenty of holiday comfort.

- Marie Callender Dutch Apple Pie
-
It’s hard to find a better Christmas dessert than apple pie. It’s truly classic, made to warm you from the inside out, and sweet as you need it to be to cut even the heaviest of Christmas dinners. There are a few good options out there for store bought apple pies. There is only one, however, that includes a huge amount of streusel topping and a wonderfully crisp apple filling. That would be Marie Callender’s Dutch apple pie. This thing was made for the Christmas dinner table. The warming cinnamon flavor in the filling was made to get anyone into the Christmas spirit. And all it takes is a little time to preheat the oven. Talk about easy Christmas desserts.

- Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark
-
If peppermint bark ice cream doesn’t tickle your fancy, can I offer you the same fantastic flavor without the chill of ice cream? Yes, just peppermint bark. Well, I’d argue Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark isn’t just peppermint bark. It’s really, really good peppermint bark. The dark chocolate layer is balanced out perfectly by the creaminess of the white chocolate layer. It’s topped with big pieces of peppermint candy that are seriously high quality and add just enough crunch. This is what perfect peppermint bark looks like (and what a perfect Christmas dessert looks like, too).

- Bakery Fresh Goodness Pecan Pie
-
Pecan pie is a quintessential Christmas dessert. In fact, it seems like you can hardly find it any other time of the year. Which is a shame. We should be eating more pecan pies! Particularly so when those pecan pies are from the bakery in a Kroger-owned grocery store. These are amazing pies. The crust is buttery. The filling is nutty and gooey without being nauseatingly sweet; it kind of tastes like cookie butter. All of that is topped with whole, crunchy pecans. This is a classic, homemade pecan pie but even better because all you had to do was pick it up at the store and slice it up. (Sorry, Grandma.)
